STICKMAN by Bosch Hieronymus

STICKMAN by Bosch Hieronymus 2010

"Stickman is a poseable figure, made from an ordinary wooden art figure model.  What remains from the original model is one of the hands and the feet. One of the hands I had to replace with modeling plastic (an epoxy material consisting of two parts which, when mixed together turns solid in a few hours).  Some of the original springs remain.  The arms and legs I replaced with hollow metal tubes salvaged from the junk I hoard.  The skull is from a gift shop on the tram route from Seaton in Devon.  The skull I had to hollow out in order to be able to insert the spring that holds it in place. The whole thing is painted white, to get the colours I photographed it with two lights, one red and one blue.  The ball is the cast of the inside of  a "disco ball", the motor that rotated the original device rotates the coloured  lights in the video Rotating Balls".  Since photographing "Stickman" the ball has been  sanded smooth and now has a map of the earth pasted to the surface, and will resurface again in due course.  At present "Stickman"  lies in a twisted position on some cardboard, a crude outline round it makes it resemble a crime scene photo, something that amuses me each time I glance at it. ....  "
